So here is a simple habit that stops most scams before they start. Before you tap any link or ring any number in a message you did not expect, pause and ask three questions.

Was I expecting this?

If a text or email arrives out of the blue about a delivery you did not order or an account you do not use, that is your first warning.

Does it want me to hurry?

Real companies do not threaten you into acting in the next ten minutes. Pressure is a scammer’s favourite tool.

Does it ask for a password, a code, or a payment?

No genuine bank or company will ever ask you to confirm a password or read out a security code. Ever.

If any answer worries you, stop. Do not use the number or link in the message. Instead, ring the company on a number you already have, from a bill, a card, or their real website, and check. Nine times out of ten that one phone call is the end of it.
