Why a security check matters

Online scams are getting much harder to spot. They no longer look like obvious fakes. Fraudsters now impersonate banks, HMRC, and delivery companies with messages that look completely real. Across the Calder Valley, people are losing hundreds and sometimes thousands of pounds to scams that a few simple precautions could have prevented.

You don't need to be a technology expert to protect yourself. You just need to know what to look for, and that's exactly what this 90-minute session covers. Everything we go through, you'll leave with in writing to refer back to.

Common questions

Do I need to think I've been hacked to book this?
Not at all. Most people who book a security check-up haven't been hacked. They just want to know they're safe. It's a bit like an MOT for your devices. If everything is fine, you leave with peace of mind. If something needs attention, better to know now.
What devices can you look at?
We can check phones (iPhone or Android), laptops, tablets, and desktop computers. If you have more than one, bring them all. We'll cover as much as we can in the 90 minutes.
I've had the same password for years. Is that really a problem?
Probably, yes. Old passwords (especially ones used on more than one site) are one of the most common ways accounts get broken into. We'll show you a simple way to fix this that doesn't involve memorising dozens of different things.
I got a suspicious email last week. Can you help me understand it?
Yes. Bring it up when we arrive. We'll look at it together, tell you whether it was a scam and how to spot similar ones in future. That kind of thing is exactly what this session is for.
Will you be able to see my bank account or private messages?
No. We look at security settings, not the contents of your accounts. We might ask you to log in to something so we can check the security settings are turned on, but we're never looking at your transactions, messages, or personal files.
What if you find something actually wrong?
We tell you clearly and calmly what it is, and we fix it if we can in the session. If it needs more work (for example, if a device has been compromised and needs a full clean) we'll tell you honestly what your options are and what it would cost. No nasty surprises.
Is the £45 really the total price, no extras?
Yes. £45 covers the full 90-minute session, including the written summary you take away at the end. There are no call-out fees, no hidden charges, and no follow-up invoice unless you ask us to do additional work.
