Who we work with

We work with sole traders, small businesses, CICs, charities, libraries, and community organisations across Hebden Bridge and the Calder Valley. What they all have in common: they can't justify a full-time IT person, they don't want a rolling contract with a corporate provider, and they need someone local who actually knows their context. Whether it's a Monday morning emergency or a longer project, you need practical help from someone who understands how a small operation actually works.

Our service area

We cover the Calder Valley and surrounding areas. If you're not sure whether we cover your location, just ask.

TRAINING

Training and workshops

From getting your first remote person on board to keeping a distributed team feeling like a team, we run hands-on training drawn from real practice at Peak PEO, adapted for the scale of a small Calder Valley business.

REMOTE SETUP

Remote working setup

For Calder Valley businesses moving to remote, or improving how it already runs. We cover the tools (collaboration platforms, secure VPN, async-first comms), the policies (where people can work from, what is expected of them), and the tech itself (laptops, MFA, device management).

About Mike

Mike Thomas is GTM Manager and AI Engineer at Peak PEO, the employer-of-record service that runs international payroll and remote-work compliance across 11+ countries. The training draws on what works at Peak day to day.

FIRST HIRE

Your first fully remote employee

For businesses about to hire their first remote person. Three layers: setup (what you need before day one), legal (contracts, payroll, where they can sit legally), and onboarding (what week one actually looks like). We help you get it right at the start.

About Mike

Mike works at Peak PEO, an employer-of-record handling international payroll, contracts, and compliance for remote staff. The legal and payroll layer here is exactly what Peak does for client businesses every day.

CULTURE

Building company culture (remotely)

For teams who already have remote staff and want the culture to stay alive. Communication rhythms (what happens daily, weekly, monthly), virtual rituals that do not feel forced, in-person anchor moments worth travelling for, and async norms that protect deep work without losing connection.

About Mike

Peak PEO is a B Corp running a fully distributed team across 11+ countries. Mike helps shape how that team stays connected, and brings those practices into the training, scaled down for a small Calder Valley operation.

Common questions

Do I need a contract or retainer?
No. Book sessions as and when you need them. There is no minimum commitment and no monthly fee. Many clients use us on a casual basis (a few hours when something crops up) and others prefer a block of time they can draw down.
What counts as a "business" for your pricing?
Any registered business, sole trader, CIC, charity, library, or community organisation. If you're operating as an entity rather than an individual, the business rate applies. If you're unsure, just ask. We'll find a fair arrangement.
Can you help with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365?
Yes. Setup, migration, permissions, shared drives, email routing, calendar sharing. All of it. We also help teams actually use these platforms properly, not just have them installed.
Do you offer training for staff?
Yes. We can run one-to-one or small group sessions on any tool you're adopting. We focus on practical skills, not theoretical overviews. By the end of a session, people are actually doing things, not just watching.
How quickly can you respond to an emergency?
We aim to respond to urgent requests the same day or next day. We can't guarantee a specific response time, but we work locally and have no account management layers to navigate. You'll always reach the person who's actually going to help.
Is there a minimum booking?
The minimum booking is one hour at £30. After that, time is billed in 30-minute increments at £50/hr. Block bookings (5 hours for £225, or 10 hours for £450) offer a meaningful saving if you have ongoing needs.
