Technology for the whole community

We run free Repair Cafés across Hebden Bridge. Bring your broken device, we'll take a look. No booking, no charge.

Why we do this

Not everyone can afford one-to-one help with technology. Not everyone feels confident walking into a shop and asking. Across Hebden Bridge and the Calder Valley, we've seen what a difference it makes when someone simply sits with you, patient, unhurried, no bill at the end, and helps something finally click.

We've been doing this since July 2024. In March 2026 we formalised it by becoming a Community Interest Company. The Repair Cafés aren't a side project. They're the reason HTT exists.

Digital skills workshops

Group sessions on smartphone basics, online safety, video calling, and more. Tailored to the group.

🏢

Drop-in sessions

Hosted at community venues, libraries, and social clubs. A regular slot where people can bring questions.

Know someone who'd benefit but couldn't afford it? Gift vouchers are available in any amount, valid for 12 months.

Common questions

What can I bring to a Repair Café?
Most devices: phones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers, printers, smart TVs, and other household electronics. If you're not sure whether we can help with your specific device, come along anyway. We'll be honest if it's beyond us.
Do I need to book?
No. Just turn up. Repair Cafés are drop-in: no booking, no appointment, no paperwork. First come, first served.
What if my device can't be fixed?
We'll tell you clearly. We'll explain what the problem is, what fixing it would involve, and what your options are. Sometimes the answer is a repair shop, sometimes it's a new device, and sometimes the answer is simpler than you thought. Either way, you leave with a clear picture.
Is it really free?
Yes. There's no charge at Repair Cafés. HTT is a Community Interest Company, which means we exist to benefit the community, not to make money. Our paid work funds the free sessions, and that's exactly how we planned it.
How do I stay updated about upcoming events?
Check this page, or get in touch and we'll let you know about upcoming dates. We also share events on local community noticeboards and Facebook groups.
Can you come to our group or organisation?
Yes. If you run a community group, library, older residents' club, or similar, we'd be happy to talk about running a session for your members. Get in touch and we'll work something out.

Come along. No booking needed.

Turn up with your device and we'll take a look. Next Repair Café: Saturday 14 June, Hebden Bridge.
